Who is J?

J and Francis in front of the Reunification Palace, Saigon

Raised in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, I have resided in Philadelphia since 1991.  In 2008, I became the Director of Communications for The College of Physicians of Philadelphia, one of the oldest professional societies in the United States and home to the world-renowned Mütter Museum.

I am a speaker on the use of Social Media by non-profits and considered a leading expert on the development and implementation of such platforms.  At the College, I have developed what is widely considered the most successful Social Media platform for a museum/cultural organization, in the region.  I am also a leader in film and digital media production for cultural institutions.

Prior to joining the College, I spent many years portraying Thomas Jefferson, performing around the world, including performances for US Presidents, world leaders, and a wide range audiences.

I am a member of the St. Andrew’s Society of Philadelphia, the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (formerly the Grand Army of the Republic), and The Holland Society of New York.  I also serve on the Board of Directors of the Washington Square West Civic Association, the executive committee of the Washington Square West Town Watch Initiative, and the Philadelphia Police District Advisory Council for the 6th District.  I am proud to be a descendent of Anthony Janszoon Van Salee, who arrived in America in 1629.  My family is one of the oldest in America.
